Background

I grew up in a christian home in Plymouth, MI. I heard God's truth from a young age and accepted Christ as my savior when I was seven. Since that day I have followed after Christ and knew I wanted to be a teacher.

I pursued this calling by helping in Sunday school starting at age eleven. I helped with other activities such as VBS and youth group events. I loved working with children so I found a job at a cafe with an enclosed play area for children, I spent my Thursday lunches with first graders, and taught in a preschool three days a week during eleventh and twelfth grade. While attending Moody Bible Institute I worked as a nanny, taught in Sunday school, volunteered with various youth groups, and worked as a teacher's aid in first and second grade. I also was on my dorm floor's leadership team and served on student council as treasurer.

I had the privilege of student teaching for 13 weeks at Heritage International School in Kampala, Uganda in a third grade classroom.

Professional Goals

As I look to my future in education, I anticipate growing professionally as I learn from mentors and peers. I believe it is crucial for teachers to be life long learners who seek to develop through professional conferences and educational books. I could potentially see myself pursuing a Masters degree in Literacy or Psychology, but I intend to follow the Lord's calling in whatever He brings my way.
